Frequently Asked Questions About
Our Cows, Beef, and Organics

By buying in bulk, you can save money on organic beef. A pound of Maine Organic Beef Co. beef will cost roughly $12/#. I’ve seen organic rib eyes for $20/#. Having a freezer full of beef will also ensure that you don’t have to run to the farmers market or store when you want to toss some burgers on the grill.

You can purchase a whole or half animal from us. If you choose this route, you will pick up your meat at Herring Brothers in Guilford, Maine. You can also pick up ground beef from the farm.

Not 100%. A nursing mom gets grain while she is feeding her calf. A newly weaned calf gets grain for a short period to support them during the stressful transition. The total grain consumed by a slaughter animal equals 1% of its feed over the course of its life.

We believe organic farms produce the cleanest, healthiest, and least toxic food available on the market. Each year we go through a multi-hour multi-step inspection to prove that our farm complies with the federal organic standards. For example, we can’t just run to Tractor Supply if we run out of livestock minerals. Our minerals must be approved by our certifier, MOFGA, and we have to show receipts to prove that we purchased only approved minerals.

The vegetarian getting back into meat, the heart attack survivor looking for a leaner, healthier option, families with kids looking for a healthy protein choice, fitness freaks, and folks that just like a good burger. No matter the stage of life, political persuasion, or diet of choice, people love our beef!

Our meat is packed in vacuum sealed packages and comes to you frozen.
